Econolite Systems, Inc. (ESI) provided the Alaska Department of Transportation (ADOT) Central Region with Centracs Edaptive, Econolite’s Adaptive Traffic Control System (ATSC), for 12 signalized intersections, a subset of 50 intersections for which ESI is also providing the Centracs Signal Performance Measurement (SPM) system. Centracs Edaptive is a web-based adaptive signal control solution that offers deep analytical capabilities enabling cities and transportation agencies to maximize the performance of a signal control system. As part of the initial system setup for the 12 intersections, ESI provided Centracs Edaptive in order to provide ADOT with the following:

• Signal timings that adapt to real-time traffic conditions, such as weather, construction, and major events
• Increased flexibility with existing stop bar detection
• Reduction or elimination of costs associated with manual traffic counts
• Improved levels of mobility and safety
• Increased benefits when used in combination with Centracs SPM data
