Town of Bridgewater, VA
In 2021, the Town of Bridgewater (Township) sought to improve traffic flow along Main Street as part of the Township’s Main Street Corridor Improvement project. The Township planned for enhancing roadway efficiencies through the implementation of a leading-edge traffic control management system and adaptive signal control solution. Econolite Systems, Inc. (ESI) was chosen to design, deploy, and implement an advanced traffic control system that delivered on the Township’s specifications for adaptive signal control, as well as providing real-time centralized traffic control and monitoring. The project also included the deployment of Econolite’s cloud-based Centracs Mobility platform, which includes Centracs SPM (Signal Performance Measures) and Centracs Edaptive. While also providing the Township with real-time traffic control and monitoring, Centracs Mobility delivers automated signal control optimization, as well as the capability for engineers to implement new signal timings on demand.
In addition to Centracs Mobility, ESI also deployed Econolite Cobalt ATC traffic controllers configured with EOS controller firmware, as well as Autoscope Vision HD video detection, providing advanced and stop bar vehicle detection capabilities. Centracs Mobility, combined with Cobalt ATC controllers, EOS controller firmware, and Autoscope Vision video detection, is providing the Township with a complete Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) solution that reduces traffic delays and congestion while improving travel time reliability and safety for all roadway users.
